ABOUT US

Echotonin is a musical space run by Ellie and Tim, and its name comes from echoes of serotonin — because we are both neurodivergent, and music plays a central role in our lives and our relationship. We bonded through music, and it has remained our shared language.

One of us approaches music primarily as a listener and researcher, the other as a multitasking musician and composer. Echotonin exists between these two perspectives, combining emotional listening with technical insight. Our work focuses on heavier and darker sounds — post-rock, metal, doom, sludge, and related genres — without strict boundaries, with no interest in trends or hype. Just pure music.

Echotonin is openly antifascist. We reject artistic neutrality and the separation of art from the people who create it. Music exists within social and political realities, and those realities matter. Heavy music has long been tied to resistance and revolution against oppressive systems, and our editorial choices reflect this deliberately.
